“It must be remembered that the purpose of education is not to fill the minds of students with facts. It is to teach them to thinks, if that is possible, and always to think for themselves.

Hello! My name is Leslie Walker, and I am currently studying to be a secondary English teacher. At Hollins, I am part of the volleyball team and the HOP program. During my little bit of free time, I am most likely doing homework, hiking or hanging out with my friends, watching the sunrise/sunset, or reading poetry — specifically Amanda Lovelace or Emily Dickinson.

I believe that children should develop their own personal goals, and they should strive to met and overcome those goals to have a successful outcome in the classroom and further on his or her life. For more information, here is my Teaching Philosophy.
