Content Knowledge

Leslie WAlker - Secondary English

A teacher has knowledge of the material and aids the learner in becoming experts by having appropriate tools and guidelines.

Being aware of content knowledge is vital to the teaching experience. There are constantly new things appearing in the network on how the lessons should be taught. Understanding this concept and bringing into the classroom will allow both the teacher and the student to have all the materials to succeed.

Artifacts:
1.) As a teacher, I think it is super important to understand the material, but not be afraid to dive deeper into my own thinking. I would continue to get my license, work to get a masters, and so on.

2.) My students would help guide my ways of teaching. I would have a question wall based on what we’re learning on in class (ex. basics of poetry) and have children write down things they wanted to explore in it.

This is what I would want people to see when they walk into my classroom. These questions will help further my own knowledge and my students knowledge. Together, we will work towards answering the unanswered questions. (received from https://www.pinterest.com/pebz87/teaching-displays).

3.) I would have the children evaluate my teaching techniques and see how I could improve to help them out. I want to see how I can make a change that will benefit the students’ learning.
